Biography:

A member of the Editors Guild for over 11 years and a graduate of the USC Film Production program, David E.K. Abramson has edited and assistant-edited features, television movies, and miniseries for Columbia, Disney, Paramount/DreamWorks, NBC, Warner Bros., Universal, Lionsgate, MTV and numerous independent production companies. He most recently edited portions of Michael Jackson's This Is It for Columbia. He also edited the festival-winning feature film The Indian, now available on DVD, starring Matt Dallas of the hit ABC Family series Kyle XY.

As a director, David co-wrote and co-directed the 17-minute holiday satire Wreck the Halls, starring Mickey Rooney, which is distributed by Ouat Media. He also directed comedy shorts A-Date, about love along the autistic spectrum, and Internet Dating, which became a favorite at both the Palm Beach International Film Festival and Dances With Films. Previously, he directed the suspense short Paranoia and produced and directed the martial arts commercial Battle of the Sexes. Another commercial, the animated storyboard School Yard Politics, was nominated “Best Animated Ad” in MoveOn.org’s widely-publicized “Bush In 30 Seconds” political ad contest.

Again as editor, in 2008 David re-edited portions of a Russian-language feature for Columbia entitled First Love: It’s the Music and contributed dynamic montage sequences to the MTV movie musical The American Mall, both for the producers of High School Musical. Prior editing work includes series pilots for Disney, including Chicken Little, based on the animated feature, Can You Dig It for the executive producers of Rugrats and Recess, and The Replacements for executive producer Jack Thomas (Fairly Odd Parents). The Replacements was immediately picked up to series and began airing in 2006.

Prviously, David edited portions of feature-length Episode 3 of Steven Spielberg's ten-part miniseries Taken. That episode was nominated for an Emmy for Best Editing.

David has authored four feature screenplays and one television series pilot. He also produced the low-budget feature Trespasses.

With thirteen years of piano and music training, he has written and recorded dozens of songs.

As a youth, David acted for four years as part of an ensemble group affiliated with the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He appears as in his own short film, Paranoia.
